    Obviously there are many variables. Any suggestions on how to make it sound "natural" by applying effects? <g>

    Less is more!

    I use:
    Low end roll off (= High pass)
    Verry little EQ, only if necessary, depending on the mic or PU and also on how the mandolin shall fit into the entire mix
    Verry little reverb when I use close micing and there is no 'room'

    So I might end up just with a high pass.
