There's a thread about it over in the CBOM section, with reports from two people who now have one (last few pages in the thread):

Only place I was able to find them online was elderly and I ended up ordering the last one they had on order (although they're unsure of when they'll ship yet).

This showed up on Elderly's site since NAMM: pre-ordering for the new Eastman octave. They're listing at $699 which is a lot lower than I thought I remembered hearing.

Fabulous post. Glad to see clergy maintaining a sense of humor and humanity. We could use a bit more of both in this world.

Wow. That might be hard to pass up.

I think so, I'd order in a heartbeat if I had the dough right now.

One mandolin-family instrument at NAMM that seemed to escape everyone's notice: a purple electric from Jersey Girl Guitars. I have long been intrigued by these.

Almost 20" scale length is an odd choice for mandola, more like an octave. That rosette is gorgeous.

I ordered an Eastman 805/V which also has the antique varnish (distressed) finish. I am receiving it Friday. These guys seem to put a lot of skill into their productions. I would very much like to read more about the Eastman process and watch videos that show their shop if they exist. I have seen guitars being hand-made by Eastman on video and it appears they have a very refined process. This is what I could afford and I am hoping it has the tone and quality I am wanting.

I found this video. The mandolin portion shows the Eastman artisans handcrafting instruments.
