Default Well-Known US Music With CBOM

I was listening to a list of songs including Nickel Creek's "The Smoothie Song" (I thought OM, but some people online say bouzouki) and Mike Marshall playing "Gator Strut" (mandocello), and that got me thinking about whether I've seen any CBOM instruments played by other well-known US performers. I can remember seeing Sarah Jarosz with the Milk Carton Kids play OM (guitar body) in concert. I was wondering whether other well-known US performers use CBOM and, if so, if there are any other well known US songs where a CBOM is used.

Tim O'Brien comes to mind.. "One Girl Cried"… "Lay Down Your Weary Tune" are two that he regularly plays on his OM.

That first one suggests to me the importance of confidence. While I like his vocals, they're not exactly what I'd call beautiful. They appeal to me more in the way that Bob Dylan or Tom Waits might. And all he's got is a bouzouki and three chords. Yet he's absolutely confident (and correct) that he's going to make music with them.

Wish I had something more to contribute that actually answered the original question, but I'm enjoying the replies.

Colin Meloy (Decemberists) indeed uses CBOM. First appeared on The Crane Wife album and that was just a cheapo TC one. He now has a custom built Mowry (you can see it on Andrew's site). I have a feeling that the main guitar player also borrows it live. Could be wrong though!
Of course Sarah Jarosz has her superb Fletcher Brock OM too as you say which is in octave pairs - low octave on top. I adore her playing.
Phil Davidson (my "real life" pal and creator of my mandolins and uke) made Tim O'Brien a guitar bodied zouk which appears on the track Hoss Race. I have a pic of Tim in Phil's living room with it!
Darren Nicholson plays a Sorenson Big Dog (that's right I think) which looks superb. Must check him out.

In the vein of Tom Wait (at least as a huge inspiration for her) there is Sarah Jarosz on many of her songs with an OM.

I was surprised to see Circle Jerks bassist Zander Schloss play a gig with a bouzouki and an acoustic bass player earlier this year. Well known? to some...

If we can stretch US to include Canada, then The Once use a wide selection of mandolin family instruments to good effect.

Going off into heavy metal territory, System of a Down and Nile both have been known to use bouzoukis here and there. Chop Suey by System of a Down has a very simple but prominent bouzouki part.

Just remembered that Richard Shindell uses a bouzouki sometimes as well, OK technically he lives in Brazil these days, but he is from New York at least

Can't find any youtube clips, but a portion of his folk alley concert is on a 'zouk.

This is a tune that O'Brien originally recorded with Darrell Scott, but I couldn't find any live versions of the two of them playing it.

Continuing further down this road, Eluveitie features quite a bit of mandola--of course they're Swiss, so that could well mean octave mandolin. Evidently he uses an open tuning of some sort (a fan asked on their website).

    They're moderately well-known in the US? :D
Enough so that their tour stopped in Nebraska, we get skipped by a lot of bands. Yeah, after I posted it I realized I was skirting the edges of the topic at hand.
