    Default Maple Bridge

    Hi Everyone,
Not having the wood working skills to make my own 11-hole maple Bridge I am interested in having one made. Does anyone know who might be willing to make one of these out of hard maple?

Joey, do you know the exact height you need? Someone could make you one easily enough but it will still need to be fitted to your instrument.

Yes, I will/can take measurements. Fitting would be done by a local shop ideally.

I suggested Red because I bought one from him some years ago.

The photo in #1 post sure looks like a Henry blank. I believe that's what it is, and maple.

You are current. I sent him an email about having a bridge made.

I made one easily using a small vice, a coping saw, file and sandpaper to smooth the edges, and a drill for the holes. I used poplar rather than maple, which is what I could get at Home Depot, which is harder. It wasn't that difficult and you can get the templates from Red Henry's website.

It noticeably improved the volume but also accentuated the highs. A softer wood might provide a more balanced tone. Red Henry is a great mandolinist in his own right and has come upon a design change that are an improvement but require customized work.
