The photo in #1 post sure looks like a Henry blank. I believe that's what it is, and maple.

I made one easily using a small vice, a coping saw, file and sandpaper to smooth the edges, and a drill for the holes. I used poplar rather than maple, which is what I could get at Home Depot, which is harder. It wasn't that difficult and you can get the templates from Red Henry's website.
It noticeably improved the volume but also accentuated the highs. A softer wood might provide a more balanced tone. Red Henry is a great mandolinist in his own right and has come upon a design change that are an improvement but require customized work.
