Name the builder of Jesse McReynolds' 3-point mandolin
Was noting it's the anniversary Jim & Jesse's 1980 recording, "Today!", still widely available. Interesting music, plenty of drums on this album and the material reflects bluegrass' awkward embrace of the folky, pop music of the time. Love old album art and noticed Jesse has a 3-point mandolin, highly inlaid. Have a hunch who the builder is but thought for fun I'd throw it out here for guessers and those that know.
Man, those vocals though, those guys never slipped.

I can't tell from the pics, but I seem to remember Jesse playing a Wynn for a while.

The blonde mandolin that Jesse plays is made by Stiver, the three point is a Wynn....

Saw him with Del and Dawg at Ryman this past June. He was playing a blonde. Blonde mandolin, that is.

The story went that Wynn made three 3-points for Jesse to choose from and he picked the one in the picture. I took lessons for a short time from Colin Blair in St. Louis. He had a Wynn 3-point that was supposedly one of the two Jesse didn't pick of that lot. I got to play it once. It was a great mandolin!
