Thread: Mic for a 1921 Martin A?

    Default Mic for a 1921 Martin A?

I use LR Baggs radius units for my 2 arched mandos and really like the sound. But my Martin is too thick to receive the violin clamp mount. Anybody have a mic/pick up they like to use with a Martin A? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that's actually a Viola chin rest mount. If it was a violin mount your could go to the viola mount. How much deeper is the Martin body vs. a normal carved mandolin? You might be able to get longer barrels for that Baggs.

Baggs Radius is a contact transducer, just stick it on the soundboard.. Blue Tack is a removable stickum.

I have the Schertler Dyn M, another Transducer to attach to the soundboard, temporarily.

It has a Microphone .. XLR type Plug and It uses the Mic Pre in the Mixer channel..

I put the PU Cable when its plugged into the Mic cable, in my pocket
    for a strain relief
& to keep from stepping on the thin PU cable.
