Question Old Banjolin - any ideas?

This old Banjolin has been lying around in storage for a while, waiting for me to fix it up.

Apart from a ripped vellum, a terrible action and a decade or two of dust, it seems to be in reasonable nick - in fact, it doesn't sound too bad despite the ripped vellum.

It has no visible markings to give me any clues.

Any ideas of the make, age etc ?

The headstock suggests French, or continental European, manufacture to me, both the "scroll" and the carving. Don't recognize the tailpiece configuration. Hope other Cafe experts will have more insight.

    Thanks Allen - seems possible.

I have scoured the Internet for anything similar and found just one instrument with a similar carved scroll - and that was a 1910 Lute Mandolin on Pintrest without any reference to the maker

Would love to track down the maker if anyone recognizes it.
