    Default Hurricane Matthew

I am getting prepared to evacuate, but hoping to ride it out at home. Good luck to anyone else in harms way, this looks like it's going to be a nasty one.

Be safe Tom, but definitely be careful. I live in New Orleans, and even though Matthew is hitting Florida it's still freaking me out.

Yes look out for yourself down there. You guys are going to catch it right in the teeth. I'm in Virginia so unless it wears itself out on the way up the coast we could be in for a time too. Nothing like you guys though. I hope things go well for you.

    We're staying.

Good luck everyone and the entire Southeast Coast.

My sister is choosing to ride it out 7 miles inland near Daytona Beach. I'm sure that everyone here shares best wishes for a safe outcome for those of you along the coast. Take care and God bless.

My sister and crew are in Palm Coast just south of you Tom. I hope it is not as bad as the forecast. We have been planning to visit my sister next weekend, I guess we will see first hand how bad it will be impacted.

Good luck Tom, hope to pick with you some time as we are still considering moving to St Augusitne next year.

It just passed us by with the eye around 70 miles off the coast, with only a mild amount of wind and rain. (We're in the 'burbs south of West Palm Beach, just a couple miles from the coast.) We dodged a bullet this time. Glad we did all the necessary preps, though, as some say Matthew could loop back again. And who knows what Nicole will do? We'll be staying here, regardless. Stay safe, everyone!

I have a few good friends on the GA coast on Jekyll Island, Saint Simons Island and Brunswick, all of which were under mandatory evacuation. Just heard from one who is at his family's place in Columbus now. Praying for all the folks down there! BE SAFE!

Please be safe folks. Here's a good checklist: http://www.miamiherald.com/news/weat...e32533077.html. I didn't see a camping water filter on there but I think that's a must, along with other camping gear. For everybody else, I think the American Red Cross does a laudable job of providing food, shelter, medical supplies after events like this.

Good luck. I'm your neighbor from the Columbia area. I was here during Hugo back in 1988 when it roared on shore and came through Columbia on it's way to Charlotte. Stay safe.

Just about an hour ago I got a call from a neighbor friend in Florida and she sad that the eye didn`t come inland and our winter home is still OK, we are inland about 70 miles from Daytona and usually the storms lose some power when they get over land...I am keeping an eye on it though here in Md., I have a nice gig booked for this weekend and sure would hate to miss it, the money, not the working hours...

    Stay safe....Willie

    Be careful out there.

I was evacuated a couple of times growing up on the Jersey Shore, and the family home was eventually destroyed by Sandy.

Prayers to all in affected by this storm. We ran from 5 in 7 years when we lived in Charleston, SC, the worst of which was definitely Floyd (we got out early and used back roads, so missed the I26 mess). Even the wimpier ones are no joke. Astro, I hope it peters out a bit before it gets to you, brother!
