Thread: Donate to the Cafe

I recently sold a guitar through the Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum and they ask for a voluntary 1% donation of your sale (if it sells). #I didn't mind doing it because it was a great place to sell and it was way cheaper than selling on e-bay. #You just paypal them the moola. I wouldn't mind doing something similar here, if the mods set it up. #The cash could go to scholarship funds, or something else worthwhile. #The classifieds here are a great service and I'd have no problems giving back to the world of mandolins, if I knew how. #It's nice to give at the time of a sale too, because you have some extra money in your pocket. Any thoughts out there on this?

I wouldn't even mind if Scott put the money into his pocket. Heck, for all he does here, he deserves it. However, I don't use the classified as much as some other people here do, but I wouldn't mind.

As I recall, there is an honor system some vendors follow, but nothing "official". Scott would never advocate anything rigid out of his generosity to the community (he usually redirects these occasional urges to donate to other fundraisers), and thus newer folks may not be aware of it. However, running a site like this is not cheap.

that anyone can use to make a donation. Scott usually sends back some surprise goodies.

Hey, as one of the top ten most voluble posters, that would put a crimp in my style. Should I pay by the word or by the post?

It is easy to donate to the cafe. There are links both on the home page and the classifieds. 1% sounds like a good deal to me.

Wow, hundreds of hours spent surfing this site and I never knew there was a donate button. #I never was known for being the most observant kid on the block. #Thanks everyone.

The site has a weird name, so I always just find it by searching at google or msn for 'martin guitar forum'. Great site with very friendly, knowledgeable posters. Occasional mandos for sale there too.
