Default Fifty Miles Of Elbow Room

Does anybody have either the notation or tab for Fifty Miles Of Elbow Room? It's an old country gospel song written by the Carter family. A web search has found both lyrics and chords, but no sheet music. Thanks...Mike

Hey Mike, I don't have the sheet music, but if you need the melody, The Red Clay Ramblers recorded it in 1976 on their album Twisted Laurel -- I have it on vinyl.

BBarton...thanks. I've got a recording done by Molasses Creek and have got the melody down pretty good. I was hoping to get either notation or tab so I could pass it on to a few people that I jam with. It's a neat song.

Yeah, it's a good old song -- we do it in our trio. I think it is attributed to Sara Carter, but I also heard the Carters picked it up from southern gospel singing.

Iris Dement also released it on her Infamous Angle album…. available on CD and probably You Tube.

The Dry Branch Fire Squad did a nice version on their Live from the Newburyport Fireshouse cd.

Great song. I always like how the Carter Family bend the time a bit in their songs. Sometimes it is difficult to do it just that way.

I also love Iris Dement's version which has some of that same flavor.

Gillian Welch is sings it well

Thanks all for the links. It's interesting to hear the variations in tempo from one recording to the other. Molasses Creek does it up tempo...even a bit more than Norman and Nancy Blake. It's a great song no matter the tempo!
