Hey Guys.
this is a follow up to my previous post for my mandolin hunt.
I finally decided to take the drive from Toronto to Elderly to choose from their collection.
and a great decision it was. Michael helped me so much and Chris the Manager gave me 50$ discount and a bunch of picks and freebies.and their collection is awesome.
i was looking for an oval hole so i narrowed down my choices to
Northfield F2S Oval Hole 3k$
Used Collings MT O 2k$
Eastman MD514 1k$
budget was 2k tops with some minor exceptions.
Out of all the Instruments i tried up to the 3k price tag, I liked the Northfield the most but it just wasn't 2k nicer than the Eastman and the Collings didn't sound that good. I liked some of the old gibsons too but they were too pricey.plus im still a beginner
So i went with the Eastman for a better price and a lovely tone.
The mandolin has a lot of sustain and great playability compared to my previous A style and it just make that one look like a child's toy.
I don't play much bluegrass and cant do a decsent chop but the chop sound is a acceptable for an oval hole in my opinion .
I'm Very Happy with the sound and the price I paid so i can start hunting again once MAS hits again.
I'd Love to hear some opinions and questions.
thanks
ill post some pics bellow
