    Discussed here. I don't think those are Bill's shoes.

    I'll pass on that item too. Unless of course it is relisted as a "Gasoline Powered Headstock Modification Tool".

    There is a picture of Bobby Osborne and Rockytop Express....Didn`t he start that band long after Monroe passed? I may be wrong about that but if he did why would there be a photo of Bobby in his collection?

    Also a friend of mine built an presented a mandolin to Bill on one of his birthdays and I wonder if any of those pictured might be it...No way of telling with out looking at the sticker inside...

    Most of this stuff apparently belongs to James Monroe, Bill's son. There are a few Bill Monroe awards in there. If you look at most of the pictures that are autographed they are addressed to James. This stuff being sold as Bill's is a stretch. This is discussed in detail in the link in Post #2 of this thread.

    I found this to be interesting. The address where the estate sale is being held is this house, which is also listed as being for sale;
    1572 Long Hollow Pike Gallatin TN

    This listed residence also includes a "detached music studio." Think James Monroe is selling lock, stock, and barrel?

    Here is the listing by the company holding the estate sale. At one time they were listing it as, "Family of Bill Monroe Estate Sale."
    Now they have gone full blown "Bill Monroe Estate Sale." Even I am troubled by that. I think the house is James's and he's downsizing.

    I looked up the address and here is what I found. House does belong to James W Monroe.

    Sad. It just makes me sad.

    The important thing is the legacy, the music that changed music for ever.

    The rest is just stuff, and I am drowning in my own stuff right now, and don't need any more.

    A couple of mandolins in the auction - they will bring a good price, I would imagine. Some nice mandolin straps too.

    Most if not all of those mandolins were made after Bill died. The only cache they have is that they were owned by Bill Monroe's son.
