Default Jams in Maryland, Saginaw, MI, Portland, OR, Mpls, MN.

I travel a lot, carrying my mandolin. I know there are some excellent jams in Minneapolis, MN (Homestead Pickin' Parlor), in Portland, OR (Turn Key Jam at the O'Neill Public House), but I'd love to know about any others in those areas. Also, I'm curious about Michigan. Specifically, the Tri-Cities areas of Michigan (Saginaw, Midland, Bay City), the Traverse City Area, and any jams near Rockville, MD. Are there websites? Thanks.

Blackbird's Music on Cedar Ave. in Minneapolis has a nice Thursday night Bluegrass jam led by Fred Keller, 7 to 9pm. Get there early, go across the street to Matt's Bar and have a world-famous Jucy Lucy, fries, and beer before picking. Surprise Fred, call "Fred Dig's up a Hornet's Nest." Blackbird's and Fred have also hosted all-mandolin jams in the past. Blackbird's also has a French-Canadian tune jam 2nd & 4th Saturdays, 10:30am-12:30pm. Check out http://blackbirdsmusicstore.com/

I live in Saginaw. I wish there were more Mando events in the area. If you're looking to meet up and jam sometime, let me know.

I got a great personal reply with an invitation to jam, and a request to write back in a personal email. I did, but the email didn't work. So I'll say thanks to the person who wrote, and when I get to your area, I hope we can jam. Thanks.

Merlin's Rest at Lake St and 36th Ave S is good if you're up late on a Tuesday night in South Minneapolis.
