Tabs For Songs: How to

As a beginner progressing; I’m anxious to “pick” the melody of each song etc. However, I’m struggling with “how/where” to “pick” the tabs! I know my scales and I know the root chords but I struggle where to tab from there. All ideas/suggestions are needed! (I’ve searched and watched most videos but nothing has “clicked” yet) Thank You!

Start with songs and tunes you can hum. Find the tabs to those and correlate the sounds in your head to the tabs to the sounds on the mandolin. It becomes easier the more you do it.
