Default Chris Thile to be the new host at Prairie Home Companion

I read that in an Austrian (!) newspaper,
    DiePresse.com.

Just recently a fiddle playing companion directed me to the prairie home companion. It is awsome that Chris takes over and Garrison Keiller can enjoy his retirement knowing that the show is in good hands.

It took a long time for the news to get to Austria .That was announced quite a while back.
Chris will be terrific in that role. In addition to his playing skills, he's a funny, personable performer. I've heard him as a guest on PHC several times and he was wonderful-- fits right in.
I love Keiollor's story telling and his singing of humorous songs but sometimes when he tries to harmonize on more serious songs like gospel he reminds me of a hound dog baying at the moon. That's just my opinion.

Announced on the Cafe June 28, 2015, subsequently picked up by every news source on the internet because we were the first (thank you, Bradley Klein) to formally quote Chris that he was taking over the job. Tripled the traffic for the day to the site. Articles about mandolins and mandolin players usually don't garner 21,000+ Likes on Facebook.

I hope he finds his own "voice" for this project. Sometime it sounds like he is doing a Garrison Keiller impression.

My impression is that Thile is very quick-witted verbally and would be good for this gig.

I heard he can play mandolin too.

There's a very nice article about Garrison Keillor scheduled to be published in the New York Times Arts & Leisure section this Sunday (judging by the date in the url). But since it's available online now ... here 'tis. It mentions Chris Thile, but only in passing.
