Are you talking about the one in the ebay ad being pristine? It does not look very good to me, maybe even a poor refinish job.

Way overpriced, actually, even if it were pristine, which it isn't. The headplate should be black, not the same color as the top. And yes, the whole instrument does appear to have been refinished.

The photos in the ad are way too light. The case should be black, not a medium gray. Proper photos would tell us more, but yes, the headstock and top seem to have been refinished. The headstock should be black and the back a dark brown. The top was probably dark as well.

You're right, not bat for a pristine one but, pristine, that is not. Agee, refinished, probably some abuse but, it is old.

that's too much for a pristine one but for refinished that's gouging. i bought a nice refinished snakehead A3 from ebay for total with shippng and all fees for $770 usd. now my summer busking mandolin. and a cannon at that. (i mean really what other great sounding mandolin is out there for that prices but the old gibsons--they are still undervalued)
