Thread: Summit with Birch Back

    Default Summit with Birch Back

This is pretty spectacular. If it didn't have a wide nut and neck on the chunky side, it would be on the way here especially at that price.

I've played 2 Summit "F" styles & both have been excellent. This one is beautiful - it's the only mandolin that rivals the Gibson 'Goldrush' model in appearance that i've seen. At it's asking price - it's a gift !!,

    Weber F-5 'Fern'.
    Lebeda F-5 "Special".
    Stelling Bellflower BANJO
    Tokai - 'Tele-alike'.
    Ellis DeLuxe "A" style.

Absolutely a beauty! Looks a lot like my Weber Yellowstone HT.

I think Don is right. The back and neck certainly looks like curly birch cut on slab. Beautiful wood!

I just went by what it say's in the ad, but it looks like the neck is the same wood, or at least finished to look the same. Would Summit use birch for a neck?

True it is, just don't see it used as much as it used to be and was wondering.

When I called on it, they said birch not maple. It just has the look of a monster and the price could be a major bargain.

thats a sharp looking Summit-i particularly like the headstock inlay vs what Paul currently uses-but thats just me.
i called and spoke with Nate at Daves on this one. Nut width is 1 7/32", string spacing at the saddle is around 1 9/16". soft V neck profile.

Nate made a video and sent, it looks better in the video due to lighting, sharp looking instrument and not a bad price. Nate used to work at Weber and did top graduations and some setup work, he said this one was very nice all around. radius fretboard.

good looking mando from a well known builder just a tad over $2000.
i can't post the video as it was sent, but if you email nate@davesguitar.com he could send it to you.

NFI here, just a neat mando if somebody is out there looking for one. I stand with Don on this one also, i bet it could be a monster once it gets played and warmed up.
