Nice, good job. Where is that maple from? Looks like some stuff I've seen from the Orient, with that epic medullary ray presence.

first-nice youtube videos and playing! those appear a couple years old-is that your father?
what are the colors/brand of product you used?
I like how that turned out, I have a kit I plan to start soon and this is along the look I would like to achieve.

**I am totally brand new to all this color/finish process so forgive me if "color" is the wrong word to use**
Nice job.

IM(NS)HO
When I did the redwood top on my recent archtop, I did a hand applied red/yellow archtop. I used alcohol based leather dye, Fiebings brand, in yellow, red and brown, used the yellow straight (thinned with alcohol about 50%) and ended up with a 50-50 mix of red and brown to get the colour of red I wanted. I did two wash coats of 1# cut dewaxed shellac (which is also alcohol based) rubbed in hard, so I didn't get much bleeding and blotching of colour. I didn't feel that I needed the shellac on the maple neck, but I did use shellac and sanding dust for grain filler on the mahogany back and sides. I think you might experiment with sealing the top prior to staining, since I had good results with it.
