Default 'Les Gravures de Gustave Doré by John Craton

    Hello all,

Here is a video with Saskia Spinder and Ferdinand Binnendijk performing the
'Les Gravures de Gustave Doré pour Mandoline et Guitare' by John Craton.

The composition is dedicated to the performers and based on the fantastic engravings by Gustave Doré (1832-1883). It creates a musical atmosphere that captures the various moods of Doré's illustrations. To embrace the full content of this wonderful music it is advised to the listener to view and delve into the fantastic illustrations made by Gustave Doré.
Les Gravures de Gustave Doré was premiered during a concert in the Doopsgezinde kerk in Zwolle, Netherlands, on June 25th in 2014. This video recording was made in de Zwolse Muziekkamer, a podium for Artists; musicians, painters, poets and performers, an initiative by my friend and townsman Sytse Buwalda.

    Enjoy and greetings,

    Alex.

I took you advice and found some images of Dore's engravings, mainly the Divine comedy -very atmospheric, thanks.
