Thread: Weber Gallatin A with with repairs

Default Weber Gallatin A with with repairs

The seller is asking $1300 Canadian ($1000 US with today's conversion rate) for a 2009 Weber Gallatin A that had a pickup uninstalled.

Here is the photo of the side after the pickup was removed:

There is some minor damage to the top from the pickup, but otherwise it looks good. Does the price seem OK for this kind of repair?

That's a poor repair job. I've seen mint condition Gallatin A's for that price, used but not abused Absaroka models, and Gallatin F's in the same ballpark. I think the seller is overly optimistic with that asking price. If you're looking specifically for a Gallatin A, be patient and you'll find a much better example in that price range.

If bad repairs were against the law, that one would be a felony for sure.

I played a mint condition Weber Gallatin A at the Denver Folklore Center 2 weeks ago and they were asking $1150.

So a mint model for $1150 in a retail store and a poorly repaired one for $1000 USD in a private sale. I know on Kijiji there is usually some room to dicker especially if you can show some comparable prices. This is way overpriced, by $2-300 I'd say.

Thanks everybody. I think I will make a lower offer and see what happens.

I bet if you contacted the Denver Folklore Center and asked, they could take $50 off of their price too.

Picked this mandolin up yesterday. The repair is not nearly as bad as that photo makes it look. I mean, it is not pretty, but I can barely see it unless I am looking for it. Anyway, the seller came way down on the price, almost to my initial lowball offer (see my avatar caption). The mandolin has some other dings and nicks, but that is actually just how I like 'em. It sounds great, and I have to say that I prefer the lighter finish to the dark finish on other Gallatins I have seen. Can't wait to put a few more dings and scratches on this one.
