    Default A. Simonetti (1901): Madrigale (w/ score)

    Achille Simonetti (1857-1929): Madrigale

Simonetti was an Italian violinist of the Edwardian era, working in London and Dublin. This madrigale for violin and piano is probably his best-known composition. The original score is on IMSLP.

I have recorded the piece as a mandolin quartet (two Italian bowlback mandolins, octave mandolin and tenor guitar), based on the attached anonymous Japanese arrangement for mandolin orchestra, which I have found in the Nakano Archive -- there is a lot of very good music in there, it just needs some sifting.
