Just a teaser of the one I picked up Saturday evening at David Houchen's (Bryce Instruments) workshop. I haven't had time to take proper pics to post as I haven't set this one down since I received it. It has an ebony fingerboard with evo fret wire under the tape and a satin finish all around. It's a looker and a player. Will post more later this week as time permits, with a review.

Nice mandolin Dan. I tried to put some pictures up but I guess I need to make them smaller or something. Waited a good while and they never uploaded.

I'm sometimes hit and miss with the pics too. I'm off the next two days so I should get something uploaded.

Hey David I'm doing an amber stain on my current build. May I ask what you used here?

Well, I was able to get one loaded. Phone signal is iffy at times. I originally saw one of David's Possums with the unusual colorations last year and decided then that I wanted one. This mandolins surpassed my expectations by leaps and bounds in all areas. Action/playability is great, tone is wonderful ( and it's not even opened up). And, it is a joy to just sit and look at.
I don't like bling, but I do love beautifully figured woods. I think I found my forever mandolin.

Daryl. I have some sound clips before finish that I'll try to put up if I can. I didn't get any after. I'm sure Dan will do some.

    David,
How does a 'possum head differ from a snake head?
    Thanks,

Daryl, I wish I could play well enough to do justice to the instrument in a clip. One day...,.

Bill, David gave the name "Possum Head" to what you would consider his "Econo" line of minimally appointed, simply finished instruments. Subject of earlier threads. He does solid stain, shellac seal, and 2 or 3 coats of Tru Oil.

Beautiful mandolin for sure. I own a Stelling David made in 2004-5 ish and it is a wonderful and complex sounding instrument. Extremely well made. Thanks David for your craft, your gift, and your passion!!

i was going to ask how you achieved that color tone-absolutely beautiful. when i get my Arches A kit finished, this is along the lines of what i would like to use for it.

    very very nice mandolin!
