Default Adjustable Bridge bearing surface width

    Hello:
During my string change , I noticed the string contact surface of the adjustable intonated bridge is very wide (almost 3/16)
I am talking about the actual contact surface of the string.
After looking an image search I can find other dimensions but not this one.
Can someone look at their bridge and give me a rough dimension ?

    Thanks

I don't think it matters much, as long as the front edge is in the right place.

A traditional gibson Loar type adjustable bridge is about 1/8" across the top.

    Thanks for your reply Bradley:
    I will go for 1/8"

If it sounds fine as it is, why not just leave the bridge alone?

because the top section cracked by the adjustment hole and I had it apart anyway

Depending on the wood, I aim for around 1/10" to 1/8" actually under the string. Be careful that you keep the intonation correct as you narrow it. When I make a bridge I start with the top around 3/16" wide and narrow the front break point under each string to fine tune the intonation, then narrow the back side to make it look pretty.
