New Tenor Owner *with a video!
Hey all,
I recently picked up the 1935 Gibson TG00 from the ads here. I had been looking for one for some time & had played quite a few, including some vintage Martins & a couple old Gibsons. None of the Martins I played had any depth to the sound.?. One of the Gibsons sounded pretty good but I just didn't like look & decided to hold off.
Luckily I did!! This little box has a HUGE voice, even in standard C tuning. I put some John Pearse strings & tuned it like an octave mandolin & it growls!
This is a video of the first (of hopefully MANY) song I have written on it.

Nice stuff. Lovely song, great singing, and a terrific tenor well played.

Re: New Tenor Owner *with a video!
Funny you mention the old Martins. I played an old Martin tenor at Elderly, and I have to say that the Blueridge br40 and br60 that I played there sounded so much better. It wasn't even close. So now I'm shopping for a Blueridge tenor. (The Breedlove tenor looks and sounds nice, but I don't have $4000 to spend.)
P.S. that Gibson tg00 sounds great!

The John Pearse strings tuned GDAE do sound great (thanks to your playing). Do you remember the string sizes? .11 to .40?
