Think of how much greater he'd be if he played the mandolin.

Billy Joel has been a significant part of my repertoire for many decades. I think Glass Houses is extraordinary. His music goes well beyond the I-IV-V that many of us grew up on. Plus fine poetry that makes sense. For this life-long piano plinker, it's player's music with beautiful finger dances and fat, juicy chord changes. I haven't successfully moved any of it to the mandolin yet.

A big problem for me is that Mr. Joel's range far exceeds mine, so I have to transpose almost everything to find a key so I can sing it.

    Hmm -- "Old-Time, Roots, Early Country, Cajun, Tex-Mex" -- Billy Joel -- ?

Not familiar with Joel's old-timey repertoire, but willing to be educated...
