    Default Beatles--Old Brown Shoe

In honor of George's birthday, my solo arrangement of his song "Old Brown Shoe". I blended a Sennheiser dynamic mic and direct line from my soundhole pickup, added a trace of reverb. Video from my old point-and-shoot camera.

I had issues with aspect ratio---it seems to display fine, but the preview looks wide.

Thanks, no I don't have tab. This is just from my head, haven't written it down. I just love the groove, and have worked at this tune off and on for a while.

It's Thomas Buchanan's standard 10-string, 14.25" scale, with Steve Ryder pickup.

    Good going!

I've loved this song since ... since ... well, gee, I had to look it up - 1969, when it appeared as the B side of "The Ballad of John and Yoko." Good bit of fun, that bit of vinyl, both sides. And this version, too.

The wiki articles on both songs are fun reads. Glad I looked this up. I did not know "Ballad" was recorded by just Lennon and McCartney - George was on holiday, Ringo filming on location - and in one evening, when John visited Paul with a bit of urgency on his mind. And OBS was also a multi-track project, nearly all George except for Ringo on drums. Glad they could still have this much fun, even after all they'd been through, and recently. Ah, those lads!

Paul played drums, if I remember correctly.

Well ... that's why I included the link, so no one would have to tax his/her memory too much. Anyway, you are indeed correct - John played guitars, Paul played everything else, including maracas.

The article also includes this bit of frivolity:

In Barry Miles' biography, McCartney recalls that Lennon had a sudden inspiration for the song and had suggested that the two of them should record it immediately, without waiting for the other Beatles to return. Reflecting this somewhat unusual situation, the session recordings include the following exchange:

Lennon (on guitar): "Go a bit faster, Ringo!"
    McCartney (on drums): "OK, George!"
