Hey folks -- Fretboard Journal is looking for 10 to 12 mandolins for the vintage instrument showcase at Wintergrass. It'll be 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday; Compton will be playing the mandolins in a duet with Chris Eldridge on guitars.
Gibsons are certainly welcome, but Jason of FBJ tells me he's looking for a variety. I'm putting up a Bacon Amateur, a snakehead A4 and a Lyon & Healy Style A mandola. It would be great to have an old Martin of some kind, an L&H mandolin, and perhaps something more downmarket ... S.S. Stewart? Kay? Harmony? Shutt? Larson Bros.? Weymann? Kalamazoo?
Of course, if you have a Loar or an F2/F4, we'd like to hear from you as well.
It's gotta be old and it's gotta be set up to play, and you must be willing to let Compton get his hands on it for a while. I'll try to accommodate your comfort level with loaning your instrument; if you're attending the festival and can just show up to the demo with your axe tuned and ready, then you should be able to pick it up directly afterward.
Post here or PM me ... I'll make a list of interested parties and forward it to Jason.
