Sorry, my bad. It's a website with tabs and mp3's and practice backup tracks. Paid the fee, can't register...,.
Was trying to see if anyone uses them. Thanks

...Or could suggest something similar that is known? I have limited internet access so was looking for tabs and practice, play along tracks I could download. Thanks again

Buy a couple of books like Steve Kaufman's series for the tab and download iRealPro app for the practice tracks. It's not perfect but it gets you away from depending on the Internet.

The Flatpick Apprentice has a whole bunch of really good backing tracks for fiddle tunes that you can download. He has a range of metronome speeds on them and some nice guitar rhythm. He does not charge for them.

go to www.mandozine.com and search their, "TabEdit" files for, "Old-Time." Download the free, "TabEditViewer" that allows you to open the file. You can view either standard notation, tab, or both (menu selection). You can get the computer to, "Play" the file. (It doesn't sound like a mandolin, but does inform the ear.)

This site also has tabedit files and think there's a category for old-time. Go to jams (I know there are several in C'ville) and write down the tunes that are called. Not all will be in tabedit format, but some will be.

Hope to see you one day. I play in Richmond and typically go to our local old-time jams. It's just a lot of fun!

I have been using oldtimejam.com for years and find it a great site to play along with instrumentals in different speeds and with different instruments. I also use Band in the Box a lot. Both very good !

Wow, I have enough resources for the rest of my life now! Thanks to all for your suggestions and input. By the time I got home today, oldtimejams.com had me up and running.

Bigsky, I had used Steve's DVD's in the past for guitar, didn't know he played mandolin as well. I nlike his teaching style.

f-d, loving the C# more every day, hope to be good enough to play with real people one day!

    Bertram, looks delicious!

    Thanks again EVERYONE!

    Dan
