    Default In the Bleak Midwinter

Wonder how many people know that this tune is by Holst, he of "The Planets" fame?

This was recorded on a borrowed Andy Tobin octave Mandolin, 3 years ago now. I was still getting to grips with it, hence a few buzzes here and there, but I really liked the way it sounded when finger picked.

Rob, this is simply gorgeous. I've listened to your rendition several times already. Thanks so much for posting.

The painful facial expressions are all needless. It sounds very good.

OTOH, I know mine are not all that well controlled, needful or not. I envy those who have mastered the matter-of-fact expression in the midst of earnest effort.

And yes, it sounds very nice. Didn't know it was by Holst. I would have guessed John Rutter.

As I mentioned in Martin's thread, this tune, along with Dvorak's "Going Home" are two classical pieces that have made it into our local jam.

    Beautiful playing.
A talent for trivializin' the momentous and complicatin' the obvious.
