Thread: Vintage Back and side wood

Default Vintage Back and side wood

Just for interest sake, I thought I would post some photos of a 1925 F5. As a general rule, Loar signed F5's and those immediately following have elegantly understated flame or figure in the wood. It is lovely for sure, and some are downright striking, but most are "just right" in their figure.
I almost never take photos in direct sunlight, but today I was preparing my lunch, and laid this unsigned Loar on the kitchen table. The sun hit the back, and I just had to photograph it. This back wood is as nice as any F5 I've owned!
Those with vintage F5's, please post the backs if you can!
