of course they are awesome, but this is too fun, the guy playing percussion on the wood stool is right with them

As I rule I DO buy everything Chris records and I've never been disappointed. So much diversity in his playing...from my favorite Bach recordings to stunning Punch Brothers originals! Such an amazing artist, player, composer, and a very kind, generous, and humble person every time we've talked.

That's drummer Ted Poor. I was skeptical about the presence of the drum kit on so many of the musical numbers on the show - including genres that don't 'require' drums - OT and Bluegrass for example. But Poor's work and Thile's musical judgement have won me over, and I'm convinced they've made the right choice for the show's live and broadcast audience.
A production like LFH is made up of countless small, but important decisions. Any one of which can help sink or lift up a song, or an episode, or the whole endeavor.
I play some fiddle, but mando is prime. But I really like this Tex-Mex polka tune that Brittany Haas did and am trying to learn in on both. Check out wenn the drummer comes in. Curiously, Chris Thile stays out of it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9kjb-Pu-Xk
Along with the musician's birthdays, the fiddle tune segment is always stellar. Here's one I'm learning from James Bryan through the playing of Brittany. Brittany knows all the good tunes.
