Henrique Cazes inspired me to play and build cavaquinhos.
He is an outstanding musician and I believe has a cavaco school.
The tuning is dgbd one octave higher than guitar. The alternate tuning is dgbe.

Henrique Cazes narrates and participates in a video survey and travelogue about the cavaquinho. Four 1 hr. episodes. Brush up on your Portuguese, or at least skip between music segments.

Lots of bandolim therein..
The luthier stuff is great too. Dig the wood-fired hot pipe at the 29 minute mark!
