Default Using external Mic on iPhone

    Hey all,

I want to record/post videos of my playing, but have run into a wall.

My MacBook Pro's suffering the common glitch where GarageBand can't find the built-in (or any) camera, so I've started recording on my iPhone6. However, its mic makes my mando sound too bright/tinny.

Is there a good way to hook my Shure SM94 to my iPhone6 so that I can record with the built-in camera but get the audio quality of a proper instrument microphone?

    Thanks!

Thanks MysTik! However, I'm looking more to use what I've got, rather than buy new equipment. Maxed my budget for anything more than an adapter. Thanks, though!

you'll need something to amplify the mic before you can put it into the iphone. Do you have a mixer or any kind of preamp? what were you using to interface it to the macbook?

You would need an iPhone audio interface, unfortunately, one with an XLR input (if you wish to use your existing mic) or one with mics built in if you prefer that. Doubly unfortunately, these are not available for free, so you cannot do it without spending some $$$ and buying some new gear.

Given that AlmeriaStrings has pointed out that you will need to use something as an audio interface to your phone, this (The iRig Pre) is what I use to connect a microphone to my iPhone 4S. Not too expensive, and seems to work pretty well to me.

I'm afraid I don't have a mixer or preamp Marc. One of my bandmates does, but those are all at his house (could be a last ditch!).

Anytime, glad I could be of help! I'll be getting one myself sometime in the future, as I love the fact that all you need is the Apogee Mic and the correct cable (which I believe it comes with) and that's it.
