Thread: Widening endpoint hole for jack

Default Widening endpoint hole for jack

Sorry if this has been covered before, but what method do you use to open up the end pin hole in an Allen cast tailpiece for a pickup jack? Reamer? Step drill? Other?

    Thanks.

I use hand reamer with tailpiece mounted...touch up burrs with small file.

If its a real tapered endpin so there is a through hole, use a reamer. Size depends on the jack you're using. If you need to enlarge the brass tailpiece, use a stepless drill bit (http://m.harborfreight.com/3-piece-s...not%20provided)
If you have a screwed in strap button instead of an endpin use a brad point drill bit. Again, size depends on the jack you're using.
