Default Chief Sitting Bull, as played by Mike Marshall

    off Gator Strut...what an album...

The opening passage has Mike doing a h/p/p on the E string, ending up on the C note (A string, fret3), with this salvo repeated 4X. How do you all do that? What I hear is

down on the G note (E string, fret3)
    hammer/pull - up to A, down to G
    down on E
    up on C

down on G....same thing as above

To get it to flow smoothly and up to speed is tricky.

I think the title you're referring to is "Chief Sitting in the Rain"?

Yep, that's pretty much it. The 3-5-3 triplet on the E string (G-A-G) is done with one downstroke and a hammer-on/pull-off, and it's followed by two eighth-notes in the usual down-up patter (down on the E, up on the C). I have a PDF of the sheet music for it from when I had an Artistworks account, and I recall that he had a video of him playing it. I worked on it for a while, and that was the way I remember him playing it.

And yeah, I found it pretty hard to get it going smooth and melodic. Hammer-on/pull-off triplets are a great tool for occasional use, but when they're used heavily and in rapid succession like this, it's difficult to keep the flow and volume. It has a great sound, though.
