    Default Marty Stuart on Letterman

I don't know if this has been discussed but it's pretty amazing, at least to me.

To me, not only is it so amazing, speedwise, but it rocks. Big time. This kind of stuff could draw a younger crowd into realizing that an acoustic mandolin can kick some serious butt and keep the mando alive in music. There was an interview with Marty and his wife on NPR this weekend. He sounds like a great person.

Actually, this got discussed pretty thoroughly starting soon after the broadcast, for a couple days, here.

And that's not really posting a video, but a link to a video. Here you go:

JB - It maybe that Dale's having the same problem that i'm having at the moment. I've posted many YouTube videos on here as 'embodied' clips, but for the past couple of weeks, when i do exactly what i've always done, only the URL pops up ?. Any ideas ???,

Ivan, when I want to post a YouTube clip, I hit "reply" and then "go advanced." In that window, on the bottom row, there is a red icon specifically for YouTube. I then paste in the web address but delete everything from the beginning up through the equal sign. I often use the "preview post" to make sure that the video has embedded before I "submit reply."

I have opened lots of shows for Marty over the last 25 years. He is always at the top of his game. I have never seen him have a bad night. Great singer, songwriter and player. Of course, he got his professional start at age 13 playing mandolin in Lester Flatt's band.

While playing with Lester, he was taught many things by Roland White. This is also what led to him buying Clarence's Tele after Clarence was killed.

In recent years, the band leaves the stage while Marty plays a mandolin solo that lasts from 5 - 10 minutes. And it is flawless and amazing.

Do not miss him if he comes to your area.

He also has a TV show every Saturday night on RFD-TV.

I saw someone on another thread say something about copying the string of characters from v= on and pasting that into the field. I don't think so; just paste the string after the v= - there should be 11 of them. Like pheffernan, I use the advanced mode. I remember there being an issue over a year ago when posts not using this method weren't embedding correctly, so ever since then I've done it this way with no problem. Unlike him, I don't always preview, but I do always go back and check to make sure it works. If not, then I'll edit. It's usually something simple, like a character being omitted. Oh, and one nice thing about google (yet another) is you can copy the code right off the search page, if you recognize the clip you want, without having to call up the video.

    At least to you? Yikes!

My idea of amazing starts with Marty, proceeds through chocolate éclair from my local diner and Old Grand Dad bourbon old fashioned cocktails, and then we go on to other amazing musicians, and mandolinners.

I'm pretty sure that was Marty Stuart in the band on last night's rebroadcast of Johnny Cash's visit to Saturday Night Live back in 1982. Not a grey hair in sight!
