Love that Loar is playing an oval hole.

That's one I've never seen. Rotate below, bit easier to view.

That same photo appears very small on Roger Siminoff's site's Loar section. I wish he had a larger version.

There are also 5 earlier promotional brochures of the Fisher Shipp Concert Company in the University of Iowa Archives.

Cool photo. And jeez, every time I see a mandobass it looks like a comedy act.

Interesting historical photo. Certainly pre-dates the "Say Cheese" era.

Appears to be the K-5, with the interesting headstock, that I believe is now owned by Grisman. That is unless there was more than one made with that headstock and it just hasn't popped up yet.

    Thanks for the rotate Scott.
Interestingly, there's no story or article in the mag.
Anyone have an idea what that band's set list might include?

That's the first thing I thought. It looks bigger than the F5 to the right and it explains why he would be playing a oval hole.

It ain't gotta be perfect, as long as it's perfect enough!

Thanks Jim. (how'd you even find that link?)
I meant to ask about the band on the cover of BGU (Gibsonian Orch). I think Loar was soloist only with Fisher Shipp CC.
