I`ve been a fan of Johnny Marr for years so when I saw Fender were making a signature Jaguar, I couldn`t resist the urge to build a scaled down version

Just checking everything fits prior to painting and neck carve....and thanks to Fender`s tech support, the wiring diagram is on their website

That's looking cool. I'm looking forward to the completed project...
Would it save you a lot of time if I just gave up and went mad now?

Pete - is that going to be 21" or 23" scale? Considering the Jaguar was always the "short" scale of Fender's guitars, 21" would be most fitting [IMHO] leaving your Jazzmaster at 23".

Also - could you do those pickups as 4-conductor humbucker rails that could be split to single coil?

FYI - I put in a request to Fender's Custom Shop a month or so ago about getting a 21" Jag tenor with buckers. The response was something to the effect "we won't do anything like that, go away." The irony is that Fender promotes their Custom Shop as "dream it and we'll build it." Guess marketing and production don't talk to each other very often LOL.

So, if you can pull this off you have a wide-open field to supply. And I might just be the first in line!!!

Verne, `Tis not a tenor, it`s a 14" scale 4 string emando.....so all the metalwork is reduced - seem to recall I shrunk the body to 75% so all the metalwork is reduced to suit.
As for rails, don`t know yet.....I`m also working on a mando Gibson Marauder and I`m doing the bridge pickup as a rail ....my first attempt at one. If it works well, then I imagine I`ll be doing a few more!

Excellent work Pete! Is a scaled down Jazzmaster in the works as well?

Looks real good man. Silly question I have though...Will the whammy bar work as well with the strings being so tight?

    Couple of questions Pete.

Is that tremolo bar shorter than the one that shipped with my JazzTenor?

If it is, would it be a good fit for the tremolo unit you used for my JazzTenor?

I've thought about getting a shorter bar or modifying a longer one. If this would fit, maybe we can work something out.

Sorry Charlie, It`s a Far Eastern Strat arm so shorter with a 6mm thread......You could always hack an inch or two off your existing arm then put a new tip on......

Congratulations! Tried to do the deed with an aftermarket Jaguar vibrato, but thought it looked grossly huge on "std" clone mandocaster body. Didn't want to route out very substantial chunk of the body either.

It's so cool that players may have to wear heated gloves and thermal undies. Now us purists are watching carefully for when the 8-string version arrives.

I fear an 8 string version is unlikely.....probably need a spring from a Jeep rather than a Bigsby
