That mando looks like it should be played by Darth Vader on the Deathstar.

I actually owned that Rigel. Got it from Martin(who took that picture). I had a pickup put in. And I kick myself almost every day that I moved it on to a new owner. It was a sweet instrument and I hope the present owner is enjoying it.

What does the tenortrope sound like?

Like a Tenor Guitar resonator... Pretty much like a National.
    I have it tuned GDAE.

Eddie: Were you the lucky rat that scored that red Nat'l short scale on fleaBay? I was watching that and forgot to bid on it. I really wanted something to keep in Nashville tuning for recording and knew that'd be the ticket. Cool guit! Can't say I'm too badly-off, though, as I've now scored a '31 Duolian 6-string. I love your tenortrope, by the way, too!

And, in other news...? I really, really, REALLY kick myself for selling a Supro-branded Nat'l reso mandolin from the late 30s. That was one heck of a piece of kit. My plans these days involve a 4-string reso-mando homebrew in the near future.

I love resos--those are cool--and now I have some GAS...
Would it save you a lot of time if I just gave up and went mad now?

    Eddie,
    Great family photo.
Does that Tenortrope have a Dobro-type soundwell inside or does the cone just sit on a recess? I'm in the early stages of building one and am wondering how they made them originally.
    Thanks !

ID:	130513, or alternatively the cone might just rest on a recessed lip, but to see you'd need to remove the coverplate and I don't want you to do that until you need to so no worries. Thanks anyway and enjoy it.
