Gibson introduced the A-5 Florentine Artist model around 1955, if memory serves. The serial # on your mandolin makes no sense. A 5-digit number like 68651 would date to the early 20s. A mid-50s serial # should have a letter preceding the numbers. I would like to see some pix of the peghead, if you have them.

Looks like 1964 to me by the serial number.

An early '64 as it still has the pin to the fingerboard on the pickguard and not the screw into the top. Nice example. The number should also be on back of headstock.
