Here's a nice interview in Pitchfork with a couple of guitarists who should be familiar to a lot of folks at the Cafe through their work with notable mandolinists, Thile and Grisman. And the fact that you might come upon them via the Jazz or the Bluegrass route, also makes them a natural for this forum. I like the focus here on the path they've traveled, and the teachers who have helped them along the way.

And the boys have a new album out called Avalon that is just a joy to listen to, and well worth your consideration. Two essential players in our NYC scene who put in a lot of travel miles, and are probably coming to your town soon!

    Great observation.

Yes! I like those Tony Rice anecdotes, too.

And I might have mentioned that the New Yorker gave the two a glowing write up too.

These guys are just a great addition to the local scene. You never know when they may show up and sit in, or just come to watch other folks perform. But behind their easy going manners, there is some fiercely musical concentration, and it shines through.

I saw them at Wintergrass this last February and they were my favorite act there -- by far. Incredibly fun.

I saw them playing upstairs at the world cafe live with about 35 people in attendance. Damn shame they didn't draw more because they were fantastic.

Here's a great video from The Fretboard Journal. It's Julian & Chris at Wintergrass playing, and talking about, a whole bunch of guitars.
