It is not all that hard to learn it by ear. Try it. You may need to slow it down some but you can download software for that. i like Amazing Slow Downer but there are others even free ones. You can listen to the original fiddle tune here or download it below.

It is transcribed in the Milliner-Koken book and also in Dave Reiner's book, Old-Time Fiddling Across America.
You can actually see the page scanned here on Google.

Good luck on that. I personally would find it hard to learn a tune like one that from sheet music without hearing the recording. I am never sure if the notation is truly accurate for the version I want to learn. I do learn a tunes from the M-K book which is conveniently located near my fiddle and mandolin, however i also like to refine my playing of them by getting the original recording in my head.
I do read thru tune books, but I refined my reading by reading lots of classical music. The hardest thing for me is reading the syncopated parts where rhythms go across the bar lines.
BTW do you mean sight reading, as in playing tunes off-the-cuff in performance or just merely reading notated sheet music. The latter comes first, obviously. I am moderately good at reading and am getting better at sight reading. I can do pretty good sight reading regular fiddle tunes that I have not heard, esp jigs and non-crooked reels.

I simply want to become better at reading. I always perform from memorization or improv. I would like to have the tool (reading) in my little box of tricks. I can read tab at tempo but was always slow with standard notation. Its a fun challenge

I am, just the opposite. I find tab hard to read but can play up to tempo (depending on the tune or the complexity) with standard notation.
