John Hardy
Here's my version of John Hardy - I am mixing a few different versions here, and adding the mandolin. Hope you like it. Comments, also critical are very welcome.

Re: John Hardy
Nice. Two questions: Is that standard tuning you are using? and what' boiling in the pot?

Re: John Hardy
Pretty cool 'clawhammer' effect rhythm you have. I like it!

Re: John Hardy
Yeah its standard tuning, the pot is boiling nixtamal - which is corn with lime to use for tortillas. This was in Mexico, up in the mountains, it gets cold and rainy but no snow - so the cabin works year round. And yes I was exactly going for a clawhammer type of style on the mandolin. Hmm actually on second thought maybe I did tune down to GDAD...

Re: John Hardy
Neat. I'd like to see another one or two instrumental breaks between verses. Good job.

Re: John Hardy
What driving rhythm you get with that strum. I love it!

Sounds great! In my version I tried to bring some international flair to the desperate little man:Irish Tenor Banjo, Clawhammer ukulele, Nylon string guitar...

Re: John Hardy
Nice version, and good recording work. The rhythm seems a bit off synch in the guitar/flute part, very nice banjo and uke playing though.
