Weird Chord

Hi all.

Working off the sheet music for church, which has chords written for guitar.

So, I've tried to find these chords, and have not had luck finding out what it looks like:

Fadd9
Gadd9 (I presume Fadd9 one fret up)
Cadd9

Anybody have suggestions? The other chords are at the low end of the fretboard or around fret 5.

Hi Nate, I'm guessing you'll be playing this with a band? If so, if consider just playing F, G, and C and letting the other instruments (guitars) take care of the "add9."

I'd probably do the opposite and play this as a 3 note chord, dropping the fifth or root assuming someone else will play them and have fun with the 9th.

yeah never forget if other instruments are playing, you don't have to play the over fancy stuff. Play the root major..

Often I play, for example, Cmaj, same time, the guitarist plays Am.... I often get my guitarist to do this with me as a neat trick. We might play some chords in unison, others a third apart etc where it makes sense musically to get various 7th or 9th chords for example. We could play Am7 on the mando on its own... but.... it's basic stuff, but sometimes such things are overlooked so apologies if this is common currency here!

In this particular instance if someone else is outlining the chords it is very simple to play the add9 with the third omitted by playing the root on the G or D string and simply playing the next two pairs of strings above the root at the same fret.

The simple rule for add 9 is to add a note that is two frets higher than a root. And By the way if you don't choose to participate you are not going to generate the tone color called for by the music
