I have to say, I didn't care for it much. It sounds too much like all the other stuff on popular radio.
Yet, what makes groups like SHEL, and Larkin Poe, so interesting to me is that they are hard to pigeonhole. They seem quite comfortable trying all kinds of different things, not sticing to a particular genre. Good for SHEL for doing this.
As an geezer (relative to SHELs ages)
I love their music, a classical refinement combined with creative 'roots', including rock, great harmonies.
This makes me hope we have another release in the works.
I liked the video and the song, don't think it 'edgy' or dark at all, and
was thinking it might have been Colorado location , but license plates didn't seem to be .....
Frankly, besides being good music, its good strategy to try to appeal to a wider audience in order to be able to continue with the group as a viable economic option......better than Shuckin the Corn to the big wide world methinks....
And, I too am a fan of Larkin Poe....got all their music......not so easy this side of the pond...seems most is UK release.
I don't feel it's dark... just a bit edgier than other older songs and videos of theirs I've seen. They are fun and I did enjoy the clever video.

It's got an authentic analogue world tonal quality and I love the Hammond organ sound (real Hammond or not).
What an amazing family of talented artists. How proud these girls parents must be. I hope they can reach a wider audience, while also hoping they don't change too much from the music so many of us here on the Cafe have enjoyed so much.
There are several videos at shelmusic.com, all rather interesting,
some a bit my little pony in fell, but still good.
One of he better videos of its type I've seen. It is really a problem making a video harmonize with the music without seeming really obvious and redundant.
Most I can't watch more than 30 seconds but managed to sit through the whole thing.
