Default Vintage Case for What Mandolin?

I have a nice old purple lined Geib archtop A mandolin case in great condition that is too small for a Gibson A. I'm trying to figure out what fits in it. I think probably either a Martin bent top A or perhaps a Lyon & Healy C. The previous owner said a Weymann Mandolute was in it when he got it, but it didn't fit quite right because of the deep tail. That's why I think it might be for a Martin or L&H.

Inside measurements: 25-1/2" over all; body section 10" wide and 14" tail to pick box; pick box 4-1/2"; headstock space 7". Bottom of case is 2 -1/4" deep.

    Any ideas?

Maybe for an Army/Navy style? If so, are you selling? :-)

    Take care,

Now you will have to find a mandolin to fit in that case. Does your Bacon fit?

Found some description/measurements online and am pretty sure it is for a Lyon & Healey Style C. The Style B or A with the two points may not fit it. A Martin bent top may also fit. How much is it worth? Just a modest amount of scuffing, leather handle fully intact, latches all working fine, lining very nice, not musty.
Tempting to keep and look for a L&H model C that needs a case.

Just tried a Lyon & Healy Style C and it fit perfectly. Should fit the Style A and B as well. Case for sale on Classifeds now.

I looked at the photo in the classified. The diamond on the pocket lid says the case is by Geib & Schaefer (G&S Co.) Lyon & Healy made their own cases early on, and then began using G&S cases, probably in the early teens.

Good to know. A Lyon & Healy Style C does fits perfectly. Perhaps it was originally a case for a Weymann Mandolute.

Makes it a little easier for the discussion to have a photo.

Here's a Weymann Mandolute and case so you can see the shape of the instrument. We just had a discussion a couple days ago on the Vintage Case Facebook group about a case that is believed to be a Weymann Mandolute case.
