Default N.M.D.! My Kentucky KM-1000 Master Model Arrived

Hi Friends, My Kentucky Master Model has arrived and I have spent the last two hours getting familiar with it and taking pictures. So far, I will report that it has a wonderful bright and resonant tone-- the mids are very hearty and the bass is a woody, open sound. The volume is greater than my J Bovier, while the Bovier is mellower. They both have lots of sustain. I am very pleased and happy about my purchase. I am not yet accustomed to the sound, being so in love with the J Bovier A style, but this F is exactly what I wanted as a complement. The action is excellent and very comfortable. The nut width and small fret issue is no issue at all. I actually like the feeling of the traditional frets and flat finger board. Excellently built, too. The flame is nice, but there is more figuring on the J Bovier. The Kentucky is very pretty and the tone is most important. I love the silvering on the tailpiece and tuner hardware-- an unexpected touch. The mother of Pearl nut is sweet!

I will post several in the Kentucky Social Group, but here are a couple of pics:

Congrats, Dan! That's a beauty. I know you're excited to get it in, finally. Now enjoy, and go play the frets of them both.

Paul and You All, I appreciate it. It is bright and strong. Played it yesterday at my nursing home gig were I sing and it was drowning out my lead player's classical guitar. He may have to bring his dread! Well, I loved it, though the J Bovier's mellow sound is still with me when I play. Ken O told me that the red spruce will open up over time. It sure is well built! The name-- don't laugh "Kenny."

    Best!

I've still got to come up with names for mine...I thought 'Dolly', but not curvy enough....I think 'Ozzy' for the Ozark, 'cos it's well...an Ozark...

Paul, Old Dan and Little Ann are the names of dogs in a book, Where the Red Fern Grows, which takes place in the Ozarks. They may work out for your brace of 8 strings.
