I did, and I love it! Not only the instrument itself, but the time Jeff took to answer all my questions, and concerns. I would do it all over again for sure.

Not the F5, but I've had my A5T for a couple of months now. Same tone woods, etc. I can't recommend it enough. Jeff really has these mandos dialed in. Tone, playability, fit and finish are all WAY above their pay-grade. I got mine from Kyle at The MandoShop, and he really did a great job in helping me select the right one, and his setup is spot-on. Go for it, you will not be disappointed!

I have not bought recently but have played some recently. For my 2 pennies I would certainly go with J Bovier. (of course Eastman makes a good product too I have one). But Jeff has these mandolins made to his personal specifications -- he knows his mandolins --he has been in the business for a long time now. You won't get better customer service. Those mandolins are a product and great buy!

I have the A5 Special and it is magnificent! Really love it. Kyle does a great set up at the Mando Shop.

A good friend of mine, who became a JBovier dealer after being blown away by the JBovier sound and quality, has a older F5T. It has a very deep, woody tone. So far, since the new ones have been produced from the new shop, I have played my A5, two F5L Traditions, and a F5 Special. They have all been very, very good mandolins. None of the newer models I have played have the deep bass response of the older one, but all have been very well-balanced and loud. Clear, but not shrill sounding high strings with a sweet tone. The set up from Jeff is first rate. They are very easy to play.
As far as a JBovier and Eastman comparison, I've played a couple of Eastmans and was very unimpressed. In fact, my friend who became the JB dealer, sold a Eastman 815 to buy the JBovier. the difference in sound was startling. The JBovier was head over heels better.

I also have the jbovier a5 and I love my mandolin. I changed a few things when ordering: such as the tailpiece, added a pickup and that was that. I would certainly buy Jbovier. Jeff did my setup so no problems when it reached me here in SA.

I bought an F5T from the mandoshop in February. It plays and sounds great!
I also own an Eastman 305, the JB has a much deeper, richer tone in my opinion.

You CANNOT go wrong with a bovier. Talk to Kyle at the mando shop. Mine is fantastic and I don't care if it was under a grand.

I bought one from a regular on this forum. I don't have much to offer by way of comparison since I am a new player, but I make my living as an audio engineer and I've heard enough to know I love the sound of this one. It plays great, intonation is fantastic all the way up and has a very rich, attractive tone...oh, and loud! I can't put the thing down! I would highly recommend one if you're thinking those thoughts.
