Default Elkhorn F-5's numbers 40 & 41 in finish and guitar #2 completed

Here are a few shots of the two latest Elkhorn F-5's in the finishing process and completed guitar #2... finally! Mandolins are just a few weeks away from completion. It's amazing how these woods come alive with the varnish application! Enjoy!

Love the blue tint in the headstock decoration. Nice job.

    Robb,

Lovely. What woods are used in the mandolins?

I suspect that the 'blonde' one is another of Robb's glorious 'Mango-mando' creations & those Fern inlays on both are just stunning. I especially love the contrast between the Fern headstock overlay without the binding, it just glows !,

Beautiful Robb, just beautiful. So I have first hand knowledge that your mandolins sound spectacular, but I'm real curious to hear the guitar! Of course, wouldn't mind a sound clip of the mandolins once they're ready!

Hey Guys, thanks for all the positive feedback on the photos. The mandolin on the left in the photos is Koa/Red Cedar and the traditional sunburst on the right is Big leaf Maple/Adirondack. Guitar is Cocobolo/Adirondack. I'll post a few sound clips upon completion! Lots of good stuff coming....Curly Mango/Red wood and more Koa in the works. Have a great day all!

Robb, Great pics of your of mandolins.

I drive up to Durango a few times each year and it would be great if I could play one of your instruments. My last visit to Durango was for the bluegrass fest this past April and I was asking around if anyone had an Elkhorn mandolin. Keep up the great work and hopefully one day I can play one on a future visit to Durango.
